EPANOCHORI (or Eleochori)a settlement situated about 2 km from Platanistos at a height of 380m. It has 45 inhabitants.
It is traversed by a beautiful mountain stream, 7 km long, all the year round. to the sandy beach The sources of the mountain stream in Epanochori are an important natural sight. The scenery is breathtaking. Visitors have the chance to rest under the shadow of age-long planes, sit on rocks or wooden benches, hear the roaring of water and the chirping of birds, and see an old water mill. Vegetation is rich and consists of planes, all along the banks of the stream, and other floral species which make the place look like a heaven on earth. The springs in the magical setting of Epanohori, the old watermill, the arched bridges and the centuries old plane trees prepare us for the wonderful descent through the valley of Platanistos. The dirt track take us to Mastrogianeous and using the old school path, we come down to the river bed, next to another stone built arched bridge and continue towards Helliniko, at the site of St. Konstantine's chapel. Here we can observe ancient walls and left overs of temples built in between 8th to 4th century B.C. The little church from the famous Poseidon temple in the area. We continue w3alking next to the river bed, on the left hand side to the Agean sea, looking out to the waters of Cavo Doro straits and the isle of Andros. We arrive in one of the prettiest beaches of Evia and the whole Aegean, Potami. (Appr. 4 hrs walking)
